GCSE RESULTS

2024 marks another year of excellent GCSEs for King’s pupils

I am delighted to announce that King’s pupils have once again achieved excellent results in this year’s GCSE examinations. Following last year’s record-breaking performance, we have upheld our strong academic standards, with a quarter of all GCSE grades awarded at the top levels of 8 and 9.

Two-thirds of all grades achieved were 6 and above, with our grades 7 and above being more than double the national average.

Our ‘Grammar Stream’ performed exceptionally well, with 70% of their grades in the top categories of 8 and 9.

Today’s results reflect the hard work and aspiration our pupils have shown and it was wonderful to see so many happy children and parents in Satis House this morning. I am incredibly proud of everything this year group has achieved, not only academically but also through their broader contributions to the vibrancy of life at King’s. Their endeavour and willingness to explore their passions through the rounded opportunities available to them here truly sets them apart. We believe that the holistic experience pupils gain at King’s is vital in developing the confidence and skills they will carry with them throughout their lives. As we celebrate these achievements, I look forward to welcoming this talented group of pupils back into the Sixth Form, where I am confident they will continue to grow and excel in the next stage of their journey at King’s.

Individual Success STORIES

Ralf scores a perfect 10!

An outstanding performance for Ralf who has achieved 10 GSCEs at Grade 9. Although he was unable to come in to collect his results, Ralf received the news on his phone.

Ralf is going on to study Maths, Further Maths and Chemistry in the Sixth Form. “It will definitely be difficult but I will enjoy the challenge of difficulty! I’m looking forward to the freedom that the school lets you have during Sixth Form and focusing on subjects I enjoy most, so I can give my chosen subjects my best”. We are so proud of you Ralph – congratulations on your amazing achievement!

Tiffany’s Top Ten

With 9 GCSEs at Grade 7-9 and a tenth at Grade 6 Tiffany was ecstatic with her results and will be studying for her A Levels in Sixth Form.

“I’m most of all looking forward to having more freedom in Sixth Form, but also being able to focus on the subjects that I’m particularly interested in (English, Computer Science and Physics). I also think that the level of independence and responsibility that we are expected to have as students in Sixth Form will prepare us for decision making and growing up”.  Of her highlights at King’s so far Tiffany has many to choose from. “Sports at school has always been fun and inclusive, and The Alps is really enjoyable when I’m up there. Music is also a very big part of school that I’m glad I was part of as I think it has been very rewarding. I enjoyed all my school trips, especially music trips: my favourite being going to see Mozart’s opera at Glyndebourne”. While Tiffany is yet undecided what she wants to do after Sixth Form she will be embracing everything her last two years at King’s has to offer to help her decide on her future career path.

Smiles for Sporty Charles

We are incredibly proud of Charles, whose grades included 7x9s! Charles has loved the sporting aspect of King’s since he started here in Reception. As well as the traditional sports like cricket and rugby, Charles has really enjoyed playing football and is looking forward to continuing in the Sixth Form.

Charles has found being in an all-through school a great experience. “I’ve enjoyed growing with my friends and seeing their improvement over time. I also like the independence you get at King’s, especially the shift from Prep to Senior School. You are very independent and it helps prepare you for your next stages in life”.  The best thing about going into Sixth Form? “Well it has to be the free periods and moving into the Sixth Form Centre!”.

High Flyer Bryer

Bryer proved today that hard work truly pays off. Achieving 9s in both English and art, Bryer plans to continue studying these subjects at A Level, alongside psychology. Bryer also earned a 9 for drama.

Despite joining King’s just two years ago, Bryer has quickly become involved in all aspects of school life. “The school is so diverse in what it has to offer. I loved playing Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, and I enjoy taking part in the open mic nights as well. Now I want to get involved with the choir alongside all the art and drama I do. CCF is a great experience, I really enjoy getting involved in all the sports available”. Starting her GCSE journey at King’s went smoothly for Bryerl. “It’s very welcoming, and you adapt quickly. It feels like a family and I love the atmosphere here – it’s got a Hogwarts kind of feel”.

Celebrations for Chester

Massive congratulations to Chester in achieving 8 Grade 9s and 2 Grade 8s. Chester will be studying politics, history and RS in the Sixth Form and is particularly looking forward to “having more freedom over my learning and focusing on the subjects I am passionate about”.

Chester has especially valued the opportunities King’s offers outside the classroom, including the weekend rowing, the drama and the CCF where he is a sergeant in the army division.  “My highlight so far has been the indoor rowing championship at Copperbox”. Chester is keen to go to University after Sixth Form and will decide over the next two years whether that is to study history or law.

A Jubilant John

John was delighted his enthusiasm for English, music and drama was reflected in his GCSE results today and is looking forward to studying these subjects further in Sixth Form.

A dedicated musician, John recently won an award from the Medway African & Caribbean Association (MACA) for his songwriting and performing. He has always enjoyed the extracurricular opportunities at King’s, which “nicely match with the subjects I want to do at A Level – they are well organised and with such a variety of activities, there is something for everyone”. John has loved performing in “all the school plays as well as the jazz band, wind band, orchestra and choir”. He also enjoys the numerous school trips on offer or simply spending time with his friends outside of lessons.

Congratulations to Cara

Cara is looking forward to continuing her learning journey at King’s when entering the Sixth Form to study chemistry, biology and RS.

Cara credits her GCSE success (3x9s, 5x8s, 1×7) to the smaller class sizes. “This means you get an individual learning experience which has definitely helped me do so well with my GCSEs; teachers are able to focus on individual pupil needs”. Cara’s love of science will stand her in good stead as her ambition is to go to Edinburgh University to study to become a vet. She loves being part of King’s as it is such an “accepting community” and her highlight this year: “the summer trip to East Africa”.

A ‘Try’ of A Levels for Saracens rugby player

Saracens Rugby player Nathaneal will be entering Sixth Form to study Economics, Psychology and PE after scoring mainly Grade 7 and 8s.

Known for his impressive skills on the rugby pitch, Nathaneal has balanced his sporting commitments with a strong academic focus. Reflecting on his time in the Prep School, he recalls enjoying the outdoors, with his favourite memories being “playing on the Paddock and that all the different years play together, from Year 9 to 13”. Other highlights include “spending time with friends both in and out of class, and taking part in the Navy section of the CCF in Year 9 and 10, especially the sailing”.

Twin Win

There was much to celebrate in one family when twins Kimran and Simran came to collect their GCSE results. With 19 GCSEs between them the girls are now looking forward to joining the Sixth Form.

Kimran to study Chemistry, Biology, Maths and Psychology, while Simran will focus on Economics, Maths and Computer Science.

Reflecting on their time at King’s, the girls shared, “We’ve loved growing up at King’s, from Nursery to Senior School The close-knit community and small classes have allowed us to really get to know our teachers and our peers”. Among their highlights were the Colour Run, the sport and House competitions. “We really enjoy the House events with everyone coming together, such as at House music and House matches”.

Looking ahead, Kimran is keen to pursue her love of science and is considering a future in dentistry, while Simran is exploring a career in computer science.  “We are looking forward to the big step-up in Sixth Form, particularly the independence we’ll be given. We’re also excited to focus on and study the subjects we enjoy the most”.
