To celebrate Language and Culture week Year 5 had an invigorating start to a Tuesday as they danced a Ceilidh in the School Yard and in the sun! The first challenge was to learn the dance steps alongside their friends. Once this was mastered their dance moves were put to traditional music.
Ceilidh dancing is a social, informal way of dancing that originated in Scotland and Ireland. The word “ceilidh” comes from the Gaelic word for “gathering” or “party”. Ceilidh dancing is known for being inclusive, with people of all backgrounds joining in to dance to Scottish music.
