International Francophonie Day celebrates Le Monde Francophone – the French language and culture across the French-speaking world.
We celebrated this in Nursery to Year 3 by dressing in blue, white, and red to represent the colours of the French flag, eating croissants for snack (le goûter), and taking part in different activities. Year 1 and 2 practised their STEM skills by building Eiffel Towers using straws, while Year 3 played “le jeu de ficelle” and created Eiffel Towers using French string.
We learnt about different French-speaking countries around the world, and Nursery and Reception enjoyed making shapes with their bodies for the Louvre pyramid, the Eiffel Tower, la Concorde, L’Arc de Triomphe, and Le Stade de France. Tout le monde a passé une excellente journée! (Everyone had an excellent day!)
