Our talented pupil organists, Alex M and Alex S, welcomed the congregation into the magnificent Rochester Cathedral, opening what was to be a spellbinding occasion. The annual Carol Service was a magical celebration of music, tradition and community, as the Cathedral’s stunning architecture was lit by candlelight and filled with the intricate harmonies of the Senior School Choir.

The congregation were invited to reflect on the Nativity story through nine lessons interwoven with carols. Highlights included the poignant solo verse of Once in Royal David’s City during the opening procession, the rousing rendition of Masters in This Hall supported by the majestic brass ensemble, and the hauntingly beautiful Stille Nacht, sung by candlelight. Music also included Joys Seven, with a special arrangement by former King’s Director of Music, Gavin Williams.

As the evening drew to a close, the congregation joined together for triumphant carols, including Adeste Fideles and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, filling the Cathedral with festive cheer. The service was a testament to the immense talent and dedication of our pupils in the choir and orchestra, led by Mr  Kerrison, whose exceptional performances ensured an unforgettable celebration. Festive refreshments in the School Hall completed the evening, as the school community gathered to share good wishes for the holidays.
