Year 5 presented a fantastic array of games and information that they have been creating for this term’s Challenge Prep. Throughout the Lent term, pupils have completed a series of tasks linked to a language of their choice. As part of this challenge, pupils were asked to design a poster featuring at least 15 facts about their chosen country. They also had to learn 10 words in their chosen language and be able to speak them aloud, as well as creating a game based on their country or language.

Parents were invited to the School Hall, where the pupils presented their finished work, speaking with great confidence about their creations and interacting with all of the visitors and supporters with ease. There was a huge range of different countries on display, from Japan to Turkey, and Italy to Bulgaria, among many others. Some pupils even brought along delicious delicacies!

After visiting all of the pupils’ creations, parents were asked to select their ‘Top 3’, which they secretly wrote on Post-it notes and handed to Mrs Cross for counting. The event was incredibly well-attended and was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to practise their presentation skills and showcase their creativity.

I would like to say an enormous thank you to all of the Year 5 pupils for the amount of effort and energy they put into this challenge. I would also like to thank all of the parents and siblings who came along to offer their support. Special thanks to Mrs Walsh and Miss Neeson for the encouragement and regular reminders they gave to the pupils in their forms along the way and to Mme Hannaford for introducing this term’s Challenge Prep to the pupils. The winners were announced in the final assembly of term, where certificates and King’s Points were awarded. Well done to everyone involved!
