Last weekend saw the rowing team in action once again. This time they raced on the Thames at the Thames Valley Park regatta in Reading. The 500m race was side by side racing, upstream and started from stakeboats.
The King’s rowing team had five entries in total for the day. The teams consisted of:
- OpJ17 2x Toby S/Harry G: Harry, a J15 had to sub in for a teammate and the pair came second in their heat, despite only one training session before the race.
- OpJ15 2x Ben R/Alex S: After winning the heat Ben and Alex took third place even with a seat jamming half way through.
- WJ15 2x Pippa L/Violet W: This was the first time racing together and the girls had a brilliant start and great race coming third in the heat after a collision with the other crew.
- OpJ15 4+ Reuben D/James G/ Alex S/Freddie R and cox Reg P: Another team rowing together for the first time in a sweep event. With only two previous sessions in this boat the quad worked really hard taking third in the heat.
- OpJ15 1x Harry G: Harry won his heat and went into the final with a brilliant race but came second in a very close finish.
The team raced really well and are showing great confidence and resilience and are looking forward to more racing in the future.
