Year 3 had a great time travelling back to Ancient Egypt. The costumes were phenomenal and there was such a buzz in the air from start to finish. We hopped in a time machine to visit Egypt and all the children took part in a range of fun, hands on activities to kick start our topic for the term. Pupils went on an archaeological dig to discover some hidden mysteries in the Egyptian desert and examined and curated a range of artefacts in the pyramid (aka our igloo!). The children loved the performing arts aspects of the morning, taking part in role plays of building pyramids and Howard Carter discovering the tomb of Tutankhamun. They also learnt and performed some fantastic songs including ‘The Mummy Wrap’ which was great fun! In the afternoon pupils performed plays and learnt to write like the Egyptians creating cartouches of their names using hieroglyphics. The day ended with a competitive Kahoot quiz to round up all of the amazing learning!
