This year we hosted the Kent Hub for the National Junior Indoor Rowing Championship that took place online. There were nearly 8000 entries competing together in different locations across the UK. Our rowing team was represented by 55 pupils from Y7 to Y13 and faced tough competition from schools and clubs across the UK. However, this did not deter our team who displayed incredible resilience, commitment and competitive spirit taking home gold and silver medals in several races.
Racing was highly competitive and nearly all our rowers achieving a personal best in their respective races. Their hard work, determination and training truly paid off and we achieved fantastic results, including:
- 1st place – Y11 relay race Ben: / Reuben / James / Alex
- 1st place – Y12/Y13 relay race: Toby / Destiny / Laurence / Taylor
- 2nd place – Y7 girls’ individual race: Ava
- 2nd place – Y12 boys’ individual race: Laurence.
These achievements highlight the depth of talent and athleticism within our squad but also the exceptional teamwork displayed throughout the competition. This was a remarkable event, and we look forward to building on this momentum in future competitions. Congratulations to all the rowers for their effort and successes and massive thank you to all the staff who helped out.
