Governor Vacancies at King’s School Rochester

An opportunity has arisen to join the Governing Body at King’s School, Rochester. Governors are responsible for the strategic direction and vision of the school and overseeing financial performance. King’s School Governors are also Directors and Trustees of the School with legal responsibilities.
King’s Rochester is a mixed, non-selective, Church of England, all-through school with nursery classes and sixth form situated in Rochester, Kent. It is an independent school with boarding provision and an associate member of the Woodard Foundation. A smaller than average school, King’s Rochester provides 800 places for nursery, preparatory, senior and sixth-form students between the ages of 3 and 18 when fully subscribed.

The oldest choir school and the second oldest school in the world, King’s Rochester has roots dating back to the founding of Rochester Cathedral in the year 604 AD. King Henry VIII refounded the school in 1542.
We are seeking dynamic and motivated individuals to expand the competencies of the existing Governing Body. We are seeking applications from high-calibre professionals and particularly welcome applicants with experience in the independent education sector or; SEND and EHC Plans; communications and marketing; compliance and audit.

The role is non-remunerated, but expenses will be paid. The role will require a commitment of around ten days a year which will include attending Governors Meetings, serving on one of the Committees and attending training and development opportunities. There will also be an opportunity to be an active member of the King’s community and attend school events throughout the year.
