We are thrilled to celebrate a monumental sporting achievement: King’s School Rochester pupil Saha (Lower Sixth) has officially qualified to play in the upcoming Davis Cup!
Saha earned his spot through a grueling trial process, winning 11 out of 13 intense matches. His impressive run included defeating the under-18 number-one ranked player, as well as an experienced 22-year-old international competitor from Australia.
The tournament kicks off on 20 July in Sri Lanka, where Saha will face formidable teams from the Philippines, Qatar, Nepal, and Pacific Oceania. Returning to Sri Lanka is particularly special for Saha, who fondly remembers touring his home country last summer with the King’s First XI cricket team.
Saha, who joined King’s in Remove (Year 9), has spent the last six months competing on the junior circuit across Ghana, Kenya, and Sri Lanka. Managing elite-level tennis alongside his education has been made possible through the school’s dedicated support.
“King’s as a school has supported me a lot,” says Saha. “They’ve given me a bespoke timetable and I’m very appreciative of it.”
