The King’s team who took on the national Townsend Warner History competition have seen fantastic success this year. With over 1,100 entries from 75 schools, we are delighted that Albert B (8B) and Alastair T (6T) both made the top 10% and have progressed to the second round. A remarkable achievement seeing Alastair is two years younger than the rest of the field! In 37 years, fewer than 15 King’s pupils have matched them.

Round One this year saw questions on Krak des Chevaliers, the Defenestration of Prague, and who said, “No, no, no!” (One entrant wrote, “My parents.”)
Round Two, on 23 February, is even tougher, with entrants writing “in full” from a list covering everything from the Great Wall of China to the Tolpuddle Martyrs.

Congratulations to all the team for their efforts this year, and we wish Albert and Alastair the best of luck as they go into Round Two.
