It was a pleasure to work with the global product design company SharkNinja at their location in Battersea, London. Battersea itself is an impressive regeneration project, transformed into a vibrant area filled with modern architecture, urban shops and innovative workplaces. During my time at SharkNinja, I worked closely with the Design Engineers in the Beauty and Homecare department. I observed their state-of-the-art equipment and advanced processes, gaining insight into how creative ideas become high-quality consumer products.

I also pitched my own product idea, contributing to user testing, CAD modelling, and prototyping and began experimenting with Arduino electronics, learning how technical systems integrate with physical design. I additionally experienced meetings with international teams, which showed me how global collaboration shapes real-world product design. The working environment was fast-paced and, at times, a little hectic—but in the best way. Everyone seemed to know exactly what they were doing, even when it looked chaotic from the outside. Their energy was infectious, and with so many young team members, I even picked up a bit of the office gossip, like the latest twists in The Traitors which made the environment feel both professional and relatable.

As someone still doing A-levels, I felt like I was at the very beginning of my journey, but being part of this environment was inspiring and motivated me to learn quickly and embrace challenges. This experience has given me clarity about my future. It confirmed my interest in a career that combines creativity, problem-solving, and technical thinking, and strengthened my confidence in pursuing an engineering-focused design degree. Most importantly, it showed me how thoughtful, well-engineered design – developed with a mix of creativity, technical skill, and teamwork – can make a real impact, reinforcing my ambition to contribute to meaningful and innovative projects in my career.
