ISI reports
The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) carries out the inspection of any school which wishes to be accredited by the Independent Schools Council (ISC). A new framework for inspections was introduced in September 2023, under which the ISI no longer provides a one-word judgement. The report now outlines whether the ISI Standards are met, with feedback provided via more detailed comments, as well as referencing key areas of compliance (with both the Independent School Standards and National Minimum Standards for Boarding).
Our last ISI Inspection was in May 2024 and the School has met all the required standards set by the ISI, we are delighted that the inspectors have recognised the many strengths and accomplishments within our school that led to this outcome.
The Principal of King’s School Rochester, Ben Charles said, “This inspection report affirms that King’s School Rochester is a place where pupils thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to every member of our school community who played a part in securing such an excellent outcome from this inspection. It is through our collective efforts that we create an environment where every pupil can flourish. Together, we will continue to strive for excellence in all that we do.”
Inspectors recognised the benefits of our ‘whole school approach’, saying that the “interaction between the three areas of the school is effective in ensuring that pupils are well prepared for the next stage in their education”.

“teachers’ passion for and expertise in their subjects … fosters trust and encourages pupils to engage with advanced questions. Teachers often encourage pupils to extend their knowledge by … effective lessons are well structured and challenging, promoting deep thinking and progress”

“Pupils develop self-confidence and high self-esteem through the positive manner in which classroom discussions are conducted and the praise for their achievements that they receive from staff. Staff encourage participation in a supportive atmosphere, setting high expectations and supporting emotional wellbeing.”
