We have been advised by the Council of their plans to make King Edward Road and Lockington Grove into a School Streets site. As part of this exercise, a School Crossing point near the entrance of Lockington Grove is being set up.
We have continued to be concerned over recent years about the safety of our pupils in this area at drop-off and pickup times, and unfortunately, some of the parking by parents has caused complaints and concerns within the local community. We know this has been recorded by officials and has been partly responsible for this action.
We are therefore engaging in a consultation period for this scheme and we encourage all to review the proposals at www.medway.gov.uk/schoolstreets.
We will also be inviting representatives of the council to two sessions to discuss the proposals with parents; we expect to share more details next week on the date for this event.
Whilst King’s continues to prioritise the safety of our pupils and neighbours, we are also keen to see a solution that enables parents to park and travel to the School safely and not for an excessive distance. We therefore encourage you to engage with this process and if you have any other suggestions please share these with Medway Council via the consultation process. The consultation closes on 27 October 2024.
