On Tuesday we had the privilege of hosting a remarkable talk for Pre-Prep and Prep pupils by the acclaimed children’s author, Onjali Q. Raúf.
The session was truly inspiring, as Onjali shared insights into her captivating stories, the characters within them, and the deep motivations that drive her writing. Our pupils were fully engaged and motivated to embrace their inner adventurers, much like Tintin, as they learned the value of asking questions and uncovering hidden narratives around them.
After her talk, the children had the opportunity to meet Onjali, ask questions, and receive signed copies of her books. To add to the excitement, many pupils were also presented with a stamp from Onjali collected from her travels around the globe!
We would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the parents, pupils, and carers who purchased a book and generously donated to Onjali’s charity, O’s Refugee Aid Team (ORAT) both in the Pre-Prep and Prep Schools. Thanks to your kindness, King’s has raised over £1,000, which will significantly support ORAT’s mission. The charity is vital in providing essential goods and support to frontline response teams who work tirelessly to aid refugee families, especially the most vulnerable children and infants in Northern France. They collaborate with organisations such as Mobile Refugee Support and Salaam Kitchens to ensure that every donation translates into immediate assistance where it is needed most. Once again, thank you for your support and for making this event not only possible but also impactful. It was a fabulous occasion that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on our young learners.
