The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is now an established part of the landscape for pupils in the Sixth Form at King’s School. Currently over 70 pupils are enrolled in the programme and this week 31 pupils in the Upper Sixth celebrated their achievements at a Presentation Evening for parents and teachers.
A series of fascinating and diverse studies, encompassing topics such as stem cell research, Ovid, finance in the Football Premier League, the impact of multiculturalism on the dialect of Trieste and the merits of Boeing and Airbus aircraft highlighted the pupils’ passions and disciplined approach. Particularly fascinating were the two artefact studies which included a remix of Beethoven’s Fleur De Lis and a study of the impact of school bags on the carrier framed around a crocheted prototype.
Pupils spoke articulately about their projects and showcased the reflective process which universities see as a reliable indicator of a pupil’s capacity to secure the top grades in degree awards. Such is the success of the programme, next year we are introducing the HPQ, the Higher Project Qualification, in the Fifth Form.
Parents commended the work of our senior pupils, who were justly proud of their studies.
