This year’s Commemoration Day featured some spirited sporting contests as pupils took on Old Roffensian’s (ORs) in cricket and netball, celebrating the School’s traditions and competitive spirit.
On the netball court, the ORs secured a hard-fought victory, winning 31–24. The game was played in excellent spirits, showcasing teamwork, skill and plenty of friendly rivalry with awards for the winning team and players of the match.
Meanwhile, the cricket match saw pupils and ORs take to the pitch in another lively contest, demonstrating skill, determination, and plenty of fun for all involved. The School won the toss and chose to bowl on a very green wicket. This decision proved wise, as they bowled the ORs out for just 92, with George T the pick of the batters, scoring a powerful 40. The School then set about chasing the total in a positive manner, with new addition Logan B contributing a brilliant 50. The boys ran out comfortable winners, completing the chase in 15 overs.
These matches remain a highlight of Commemoration Day, bringing together past and present members of the King’s community in celebration, competition, and camaraderie.
