The School’s rugby season finished in style at the Medway Rugby and Football Club with a ‘Friday Night Lights’ event.

The U12A and U13A teams were in action at 6pm, both giving fantastic accounts of themselves against some excellent opposition before cheering on the School’s 1st XV.

The 1st XV played Medway RFC Colts, coached by our own Mr. Smith. The two teams provided an entertaining spectacle for a large crowd on a wet and windy night.

Match report by Jamie F (Upper Sixth):

On Friday 9 February, KSR 1st XV took on Medway RFC in what would be the final fixture some of the Upper Sixth boys would have. The first half did not start as expected, with Medway scoring 2 within a very short space of time. However, this was not to be how the rest of the game panned out. King’s fought well but lacked the execution to get over the line leaving it 14-0 at the half.

The second half came around and King’s were the ones in control, with strong carrying and plenty of hard work in defence, we levelled the game by scoring 2 of our own, making the game 14-14.

As much as we worked hard and played exceedingly well in the tough conditions, Medway scored two more tries to take a 28-14 lead and win the game. Overall the score didn’t reflect the game and the 1st XV should be very proud of how they played against a very strong Medway side.
