On a beautiful, sunny Monday, all 68 GCSE History pupils travelled to the Imperial War Museum at Duxford, to investigate the development of aircraft and warfare in the 20th century. Pupils explored the main hangar, walking through Concorde and a luxury BOAC, before visiting the Airborne section celebrating the Paratroopers, complete with a stuffed parachuting dog and gold-plated AK-47s!
One mile up the runway, they also explored the American section, featuring drones and the Lockheed Blackbird, before visiting the Battle of Britain displays, complete with tanks and very cramped air raid shelters.
Duxford is a fantastic venue, and a hugely valuable learning resource. All our pupils were on great form as they engaged with the exhibits, with the perfect weather making for a memorable day.
