Sixth Form Politics pupils visited two major UK institutions on Monday. First was the Houses of Parliament, which started with a tour then a workshop on creating election manifestos. Although the House of Commons was out of bounds for refurbishment, the pupils had a Q&A session with Rochester MP Lauryn Edwards, with the first question being about VAT! After a delicious lunch in Chinatown, the pupils moved to the Supreme Court, where they enjoyed a guided tour and took part in a legal debate on education while trying out the justices’ chairs. A bonus of the trip was meeting the Court’s Assistant Director, Ben Yallop, OR who recognised the uniform and has offered to welcome us back for another visit in the future.
