An inspiring performing arts evening took place in King’s School Hall on Monday, featuring pupils from Years 4 to 8. The programme opened with the Dance Club’s three energetic items, prepared and directed by Mrs Robinson. This was followed by alternating sets of musical items and LAMDA recitals. We enjoyed poetry and prose from seven pupils – Jamie, Elsbeth, Sammy, Matilda, Bertie, Annabelle and Isabelle – all coached by Mrs Seale. Impressively, each had committed to memory substantial texts for their recent exam performances, which they so kindly revived to share with an audience at this event.
Among the musical offerings were a selection of lovely solo pieces from Leo, Charles, Jessica and Albert, in addition to charming group items from Brass Monkeys, the King’s Junior Singers, Super Strings, the King’s Junior Instrumental Ensemble and the Choristers. It was wonderful to bring together such an array in this event, to showcase and celebrate the rising talent of our younger pupils at King’s. Congratulations to everyone who took part.
Of course, to put on such an event takes a large team of dedicated staff with a wide range of roles: rehearsing the performers, directing ensembles, accompanying on the piano, arranging bespoke music, transporting equipment across the school site, supervising pupils, printing programmes, serving refreshments and providing administrative support. Our thanks go to Mr Price, Mrs Robinson, Mrs Seale, the Music Department and other members of King’s School staff, who in any way helped ensure that the event was such a success.
