This has been a busy week for General Knowledge at King’s.  In the Preparatory School a team consisting of Emily C, Emma H, Ethan O and Rahul S competed in the final of the Rowland Constantine Shield against Bickley Park, Hilden Grange and New Beacon schools.  As defending champions, the young King’s team with two Year 7 pupils and two Year 5’s put up a stout fight.  Indeed, all four teams went into the final round with the possibility of claiming the shield.  In the end, it was the Sevenoaks team that took the title, scoring a full house on “Numbers” and relegating King’s to third place by three points.  This was an exciting contest with all the pupils demonstrating extraordinary knowledge on a range of topics including famous quotations, sports venues, Greek mythology, hats, foods of the world, and, fittingly on Earth Day, climate change.

In the Senior School, the annual House General Knowledge Competition matched Parker versus Storrs and Crick versus Whiston in the semi-finals.  Based on “University Challenge”, Crick and Storrs emerged from close encounters, and it was Crick who took an early lead in the final, before Storrs’ team, represented by Oscar C, Chester C, Nicholas R and Harry S, all members of school General Knowledge teams, established a narrow lead ultimately to defend the title won last year with a 220:170 points victory.

Thanks are due to Mr Williamson and Mrs Rogers for scoring in the respective competitions and House Tutors for supporting.
