There was an un-bee-lievable buzz of excitement this week as the School took delivery of two beehives that have been sited on the hill, in the garden, bee-hind Satis House. The local breeder, an apiarist from Maidstone, is supplying two nucs (a small colony with a queen) which should be ready within the next couple of weeks. After they arrive, the queen will begin laying and all being well, we should have our first harvest of ‘Honey from the Hill’ about this time next year.
A hive five and thanks to Mr W Smith, one of our Governors, for supplying the hives and the bees and taking on the role of lead beekeeper.
