We were delighted to host over 50 children and staff for our annual Year 5 Cricket Partnership event. Boys and girls from Balfour Junior School, Brompton-Westbrook Primary, Chantry Community Academy, English Martyrs Primary, Higham Primary School, and Hilltop Primary School joined us. The children spent the morning receiving coaching from members of the King’s sports staff on the rules of the game and the basic skills required for batting, bowling, and fielding.

Afterward, we held a series of round-robin matches between all the schools and family members were able to join us to watch the matches. All the players received a certificate from the Principal, Mr Charles, and the teams with the most runs and wickets were presented with bats to help them build their skills for the future. Mr Hebden, Whole School Director of Sport, Health & Fitness, emphasised how taking part in sports can be the basis for building a love of exercise and a healthy lifestyle, and also develops the social skills of being in a team, and supporting each other.

Thankfully the weather was kind to us, and apart from one 10-minute shower we were able to have a fun day outside.
