The Pearson Edexcel Level 1/Level 2 GCSE (9–1) in Religious Studies A consists of three Areas of Study, which are then assessed through three externally set examination papers. Students must complete all assessment in May/June in any single year. There is no coursework.

Christianity
Paper 1 – Written examination: 1 hour and 45 minutes, 50% of the qualification

Students must study all four content sections based upon Christianity.

• Forms of Expression & Ways of Life

Islam
Paper 2 – Written examination: 50 mins, 25% of the qualification

Students must study both content sections based upon Islam.

• Practices

Philosophy & Ethics
Paper 3 – Written examination: 50 mins, 25% of the qualification

Students must study both content sections based upon Islam,
• Arguments for the Existence of God
• Religious Teachings on Relationships & Families in the 21st Century
