Pupils in Year 2 have been learning about Musical Machines in their music lessons this term and had the opportunity last week to visit Rochester Cathedral to learn about the cathedral organ. Deputy Director of Music at Rochester Cathedral, Mr Lloyd treated pupils to a personal guided tour of the instrument and demonstrated some of the amazing sounds that the organ can make. Pupils got to look at some of the organ pipes close-up and learnt that the size of the pipes and the material they are made from all affect the sound they make. A few lucky pupils even got to go up into the organ loft and try out the organ for themselves.
