For last week’s Zetountes Lecture, Mr Brighouse, father to one of our Cathedral Choristers, spoke to the Society and a number of A Level historians on the weapons and tactics of the Napoleonic Wars.
Our speaker combined his passion and detailed knowledge, born of his writings on the topic and his pursuits as a historical reenactor. Pupils had the chance to handle authentic weapons, including a 300 year-old sword and muskets from the period, while learning about the formations of Napoleon’s Grande Armée used at Austerlitz and depicted in Ridley Scott’s film “Napoleon“. This was a fascinating session greatly enjoyed by those present.
