Life at
NURSERY
King’s Rochester Nursery has an “Excellent” inspection rating and within bright, airy, purpose-built accommodation, a high ratio of specialist staff will educate, challenge and stimulate your child and provide a happy and secure first taste of the exciting world of learning.
They will quickly settle your child into a carefully-balanced programme of work and play designed to nurture growth and identify unique talents and strengths. They will also help them to develop early social skills and independence as well as making them happy and confident Early Learners.
Children can start at our Nursery in the term after they have turned three years old. It is a school learning Nursery and operates in term-time only. We are situated within the walled school grounds of King’s, right in the heart of Rochester’s historic old town and only two minutes from the High Street, providing a safe, green haven for your little one’s first steps into the world of learning. Nursery children regularly use the beautiful Paddock, (our playing fields which lie adjacent to the Nursery) and enjoy, well-equipped outdoor play areas, quiet and wet-play spaces, ICT facilities and a school library.
They will also enjoy being part of Pre-Preparatory School life – making use of the whole school facilities and watching and/or taking part in whole school events such as parent and class assemblies, House events, the whole school service held in Rochester Cathedral, Sports Days, and Charity Fundraising Days.
They will be challenged to explore, to challenge themselves and to develop their skills in all areas of the curriculum and from Nursery, children benefit from specialist teaching staff for both French and Music.
A full day in King’s Nursery runs from 8:45 am to 3:30 pm and includes a freshly-cooked, hot lunch of high-quality, locally-sourced produce served in our Dining Room. All Nursery children eat together at their own, family-style table with their teachers.
Since King’s is an educational Nursery, children benefit from regular attendance and most children benefit from a minimum of three full days per week, often increasing over the course of the year to five full days by the Midsummer term. This helps them to prepare for entry into Reception and full-time school in the following September.
Hours of learning and play make up a full day at King’s Nursery and include such exciting sessions as Number, Literacy and Listening activities, French, Music, Computer fun, Science, Craft and Art, Role Play, Outdoor play and Story-time.
Before and After School care is available from 7:30am to 6:30pm.
