On Wednesday our Senior School pupils visited Paris with the French department. Spring has definitely sprung there with t-shirt weather taking them pleasantly a bit by surprise! The sun shone as they walked around the sites of central Paris with Mr Medhurst enriching the day with his detailed knowledge of the history and architecture of the city. They ate in a classic French bistro and visited Galeries Lafayette, where there is a spectacular view of the city. Paris was its beautiful and elegant self and much enjoyed by all on the trip.

Year 8 pupils returned to the First World War Battlefields of Ypres on Friday resuming a tradition that began nearly 25 years ago.  

A highlight of the Prep School musical calendar is the Soloists' Concert and this year's was a real treat for Staff, Governors and Parents. Ten pupils from Years 6 to 8 gave immaculate performances with a programme ranging from Tchaikovsky to Toy Story 2, by way of Frank Bridge and Kurt Weill. The countless hours of practice each pupil had clearly put into their performances paid off as singers managed to remember all their words and instrumentalists showed polish and flair in their playing.

It’s the Spring Show in Pre-Prep today, a fundraising event led by the Eco Council for two of our School charities, the Woodlands Trust and The Queen’s Green Canopy. Pupils were encouraged to enter as many exhibits as possible with a 50p donation for each. This morning, judges from the catering, grounds and teaching staff had a tough job choosing a favourite from the backing, gardening and arts and crafts sections. As we go to press, the winners are yet to be announced!

It was a night of celebration last Friday as Medway witnessed a variety of musical talent at the final of the Medway Rotary Young Musician of the Year.

King's School Rochester was featured on BBC Radio Kent last night as our Director of Drama was invited to talk about Moon Landing, the Senior School musical production opening tonight.

Yesterday we were thrilled to have Shorne Church Of England, St Margarets At Troy Town, Chantry Academy and English Martyrs at our Moon Landing dress rehearsal. The performance was so powerful and left the audience very inspired. Break a leg to the cast on open night this evening!

Cadets from the King's CCF Unit spent the weekend in the woods putting their field skills into practice.

The final Zetountes Lecture of the term brought Hamish Low to King's to address a spell-bound audience of pupils, staff and governors, recounting the remarkable story of the "Table for the Nation", at the start of its year-long residency in Rochester Cathedral.
